Jennifer Higdon: Recordings

Jennifer Higdon's 2002 work Concerto for Orchestra is now available for download from the Online Music Store of The Philadelphia Orchestra. The recording, from the June 12, 2002 world premiere of Concerto at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, is available in two file formats: MP3 and FLAC.

Jennifer Higdon's 2001 work DASH for clarinet, violin, and piano, is featured on the 2006 CD Making of a Medium Vol. 16 - International Connections, recorded by the Verdehr Trio. Other works on the CD include Gernot Wolfgang's Reflections, Bright Sheng's Tibetan Dance, Stephen Chatman's Trio, and Wolfgang Rihm's Gesangstück. Jennifer Higdon's 2003 work Zaka, for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, and percussion, is featured on the 2006 CD Strange Imaginary Animals, recorded by eighth blackbird. The recording also includes music of Gordon Fitzell, Steve Mackey, David Gordon, and a dance remix of all the pieces by Dennis DeSantis. It also includes artwork by all of the composers. The CD was recorded on the Cedille label (catalogue # 9000 094) and is available for purchase from eighth blackbird and amazon.com. UPDATE: Strange Imaginary Animals has been nominated for a 2007 GrammyTM Award in the category Best Chamber Music Performance.
